Transport properties are critical in many fundamental mantle and core processes such as deformation, thermal/chemical evolution, seismic attenuation, and electromagnetic core-mantle coupling. Transport properties (chemical diffusivity, thermal or electrical conductivity, and viscosity) can operate on very different length scales, and may vary with pressure, temperature, mantle phase, composition, and element spin-state. This session will bring together researchers from diverse backgrounds to connect atomic scale transport to large-scale dynamics. We welcome experimental, theoretical, computational, and observational contributions including geodynamical or geochemical studies of processes for which transport is crucial.
