The Geophysical Laboratory, Carnegie Institution of Washington, seeks applic ations for a postdoctoral position in the field of high-pressure / high-temperature materials synthesis and characterization. The position is open to all PhD applicants, with preference given to those from a materials science, chemistry, physics or related background. Candidates should be familiar with high-pressure techniques including laser-heated diamond anvil cells and/or multi-anvil presses, as well characterization tools such as Raman / infrared spectroscopies and powder x-ray diffraction. The appointment is for one year, available immediately, with renewal for a second year pending progress.
