For the first time in its almost 60-year history, the 2012 Gordon Research Conference (GRC) on Research at High Pressures will be preceded by a Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) aimed primarily at early-career researchers including PhD students and Postdocs. The Seminar aims to give younger researchers the opportunity to present their work to their peers in the 2 days preceding the main GRC.
The preliminary programme for the 2012 GRS can be found at:
http://www.grc.org/programs.aspx?year=2012&program=grs_highp
and the preliminary programme for the main 2012 GRC can be found at:
http://www.grc.org/programs.aspx?year=2012&program=highpress
The focus of the GRS is the continued development of high-pressure research encompassing traditional research topics such as condensed matter physics and Earth sciences but also developments in overlapping research fields covering high pressure biochemistry, chemistry and plasma physics. We hope to see as many of research groups represented as possible. It is very much hoped that attendees at the GRS will stay on for the main GRC, and present their work there.
The deadline for oral presentations requires abstracts to be submitted by February 23, 2012. Those applicants who are not chosen for talks and who apply after this deadline will be expected to present a poster.
